TENS is the abbreviation of ‘Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation’. This treatment is based on the use of weak electrical pulses to alleviate pain.

The TENS appliance is a handy small device with two cables that you attach to the electrodes. You apply these self-adhesive electrodes to your skin. The TENS appliance sends electrical pulses to the electrodes when then pass through the skin.

Important effects of TENS:

– disrupts the nerve transmission of pain, which reduces the pain you feel

– the brain stimulates the production of natural painkillers such as endorphins

– relaxes the muscles

TENS can be prescribed for both acute and chronic pain conditions and pain syndromes. It targets general pain signals.

TENS is used for:
– Headaches
– Lower back pain
– Neck and shoulder pain
– Pain in the limbs
– Various types of nerve pain
– Pain issues related to the vascular system
– Facial pain
– Phantom pain
– Gout and joint inflammation

Examples of acute pain situations where TENS may be beneficial:
– Pain relief during labor (MAMMAtens)
– Post-surgical and post-traumatic acute pain conditions
– Scar tissue pain
– Certain bone fractures, such as broken ribs.

Nerve stimulation (TENS) does not have any short or long-term harmful physical effects. You must, obviously, comply with the safety instructions

TENS therapy has virtually no side effects. Skin irritation may occur due to an allergic reaction to the electrodes used with the appliance. Van Lent Systems has a very broad and large range of skin-friendly electrodes to combat skin irritation problems.

In some cases, the body may become accustomed to long-term daily use of nerve stimulation. This accustomization can result in lower production of endorphins.

Your healthcare insurer reimburses the full cost of a TENS appliance. Some healthcare insurers may deduct all or part of your excess from the reimbursement of the cost of the TENS appliance.

You need to carry out a trial period with the TENS appliance under the supervision of your medical specialist to qualify for reimbursement. Once the trial period has come to a successful conclusion the TENS appliance can be prescribed by a specialist recognized by the healthcare insurer, such as an anaesthesiologist, pain consultant, physiotherapist or revalidation specialist. Your GP can refer you to a hospital or physiotherapist.

The trial period is often at least 2 weeks, although this varies between healthcare insurers. The trial period offers you an opportunity, under professional guidance, to see whether TENS therapy can alleviate your pain.

Yes, the consumables other than extra batteries and a charger are fully reimbursed.

PostNL delivers your TENS appliance (you need to sign for delivery).

If we receive your order before 15:00 we will send the consumables to you on the same day. Your order will be delivered within about 1 to 2 working days.

Wrap the case securely in paper or place it in a sturdy box with your name, address, and contact details clearly indicated. At the post office, you can send the package with PostNL as a basic package or an insured package. The shipping costs are at your own expense. We kindly remind you to keep your shipping receipt safe.

First, consult the manual for possible causes and solutions. If the issue with your TENS device is not resolved, please contact our Customer Service directly at phone number: 0412-640690. If necessary, you can send in your device for repair, including a repair number (RMA) that you will receive over the phone from the Customer Service department.

If you wish to visit us in person for a repair, this is possible. However, please call us in advance to ensure we can assist you promptly.

You can reuse electrodes for between 7 and 10 days, depending on your skin type. We recommend that you store your electrodes in a cool place (for example, in a refrigerator).
